Aqua Couture Paracoon Dress

I really love puffy sleeves and really liked the one puffy sleeve dress (Paracoon Dress) from Aqua, so I went into the store to buy it and tried on an 8. OMG it was so tight it didn’t fit me at all! So had to get the size 10  which on the bottom half just fit, but top half was a big, but as it’s got a sleeve it’s not too bad!

As usual I liked it in cream, but ended up getting it in black for some bizarre reason! But I think the blacks nice and I have more shoes that go with it!

The material is the more stiffer material they use – not the stretchy type but as it’s a bigger size it’s not too tight bad on me! Also the arm with the one puffy sleeve is a bit heavy but that’s the centre piece of the dress!

Image

I’ve worn it to dinner and put a belt round it so it doesn’t look too black and scrunched up round the tummy area!

Image

It’s a bit like a big fallen fan as a sleeve…

Aqua Couture Christy Dress

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress! I saw it in their look book again in a cream colour and was like WOW where has this dress been all my life! And luckily I saw it a few days later in the sale for only £21! What a bargain!

Aqua honestly have the best sales ever, yeah some of their stuff is quite pricey especially when they’ve just come in stock, but the quality is superb and the styles are so unique I’m willing to pay more to not look like everyone else!

So this dress I debated whether I should get a 6 or 8 and whether I should get it in cream or black and decided I’d go for a 6 in a black as it’s a bit more slimming and luckily it fits great and it’s not even such a squeeze to get in to either!  The material on the bottom half is quite stretchy and not their usual harder material. The top half is a bit odd as it’s like a chiffon type material but when it’s on you it loses a bit of shape and does make me boobs look slightly odd!

Image

I’m thinking this might be one of my birthday dresses for this year – not that I’m having 2 birthdays! Just 2 nights of going out!

Image

See what I mean with the top half, it’s a bit scrunchy!

Image

Image

Here it is on the models:

Image

I was really tempted to get it in cream too but thought it might be a bit too much to have the same dress in 2 different colours! But if it ever comes back on their website or I see it in a sample sale I’ll probably go for it!

Aqua Couture Pony Dress

So I was bored today, now that my exams are over I don’t have much to do on Saturdays now and since I have work later, I didn’t really have enough time to go anywhere, so I decided to watch Die Hard and try on a few of my older AQUA dresses to make sure they still fit me!

Now this Pony dress, I bought about 2 years ago – can’t remember exactly, but I’ve had it a while and yet I’ve still never worn it out! I originally liked it when I saw it in their look book and managed to get it in the sale not long after, but when I tried it on it was quite an awkward dress to wear!

It’s a bit like wearing an apron over a dress as there’s so many layers to it and I don’t know if I’m just not tall enough but some of the flaps?? (I’m not really sure what to call the drapey material bits that are like sleeves, but not!) are very loose and fall down a lot on me – who knows, I mean that might be the look!

So I’ve had it kept in my suitcase for a while and only recently when I decided to sell a few things on ebay did I try it on and I decided despite never wearing it out, I do actually really like it! It’s got a unique look to and I actually like the flappy sleeve things falling down!

Image

Here are the ‘flaps’…

Image

Flaps falling down…a good look?

Image

Now the bum flaps as I call them are a bit like a tail! Reminds me a bit of like a peacock but loads of AQUA dresses are so structured I suppose it does give the dress shape and it’s unique look!

Image

ASOS also sell AQUA stuff. TBH I personally don’t like the model ASOS uses to model AQUA dresses as I don’t think she makes the dresses look as nice as they can look, now I’m not saying I’m a model, but I think each model has their own look and hers for me doesn’t suit the AQUA look either that or the scraped back hair look isn’t good!

Kandee Shoes Lemonade Heels

THERE HERE … AGAIN!!!

SO HAPPY!!

OMG everytime the big KANDEE box comes I get so excited and so happy! Honestly it’s like Christmas in a box! I was going to wait a bit longer to buy my second pair of Kandee’s but as soon as the word FLASH SALE popped up, they got me!

WAHHHHHHHH

Image

Mr Kandee ❤ me!

My Kandee Treats!

Image

Now I got them sent to my work so I wouldn’t miss the parcel at home, but my nosey colleague made me open them there and then right in front of her, when really I wanted to open them when I got home …(groan), so I had to quickly open them and show her so I couldn’t fully appreciate their beauty until I was by myself!

WARNING – Small rant…

I don’t tend to analyse my shoes (which is what my colleague was doing ‘there too high for me, they don’t look comfortable’ etc), I buy shoes because there HOT and look great on my feet – forget comfort, when it comes to heels you’re feet have to suffer a bit to look that good! and I don’t buy heels because there comfy and practical so I don’t really like being told that my heels are too high – I buy them for me not for anyone else!

I mean honestly don’t ask me to open them for you, to then complain they’re too high for you! I didn’t buy them for you, they’re for me!!!

Sorry rant of the day over!

Anyway they are so amazing, there unreal! I honestly cannot decide which of my 2 pairs of Kandees I like better! They’re both too good to be true!

Both so sparkly and shiny and yeah there a very similar design and some people (mainly my bf) have asked why do I need 2 pairs that are so similar, but people who aren’t addicted to shoes just don’t understand I guess! I mean I have to wear them with different outfits and there different styles! .. durr that’s why I need 2 pairs!

Here they are together… my non-identical twins!

Quite a collection I’m growing now!

Here are my new bootiful Lemonade Heels .. perfect birthday shoes!!

Stunning heels … literally to die for

Image

Honestly Kandee shoes, i’m such a FAN, in fact probably an obsessed fan! I’ve got a complete sweet tooth now and im addicted to KANDEE! If you haven’t done so already, get yourselves over to http://www.kandeeshoes.com/ and drool to your hearts content!

I’ve heard through the grapevine i.e. twitter, that Mr Kandee is going to bring out a handbag collection *screams like a little girl* and I’m super excited for this as I need some new arm candy! I really hope he gives a preview soon as I’m dying to see what he’s got up his sleeves!

Ah happy dreams tonight……

Pizza Express

Met up with my friend today and we always go Nandos but decided today that we’d go for a bit of a change and went to Pizza Express instead! Now i’m not a big pizza lover as I adore my Carbonara’s, but managed to get a pizza that i’d like.

One thing that’s like a pet hate of mine in restaurants is when waiters don’t write down what you order! I mean come on if there’s a table of 8 are really just going to go up and ask everyone what they what and remember it all! WRITE IT DOWN! Especially someone like me who is always so awkward when it comes to ordering! I don’t get the whole memorising it! I don’t know if it was just the waiter we had or if that’s what they do in Pizza Express, but I cannot stand it! and yeah.. he missed our starter! See that’s what you get for not writing it down!!

Ordered a Margarita pizza but added on some egg (I know a bit odd but I like my egg!) and some chicken and yep it was ok. I don’t eat crust especially as it was a bit burnt and too crispy for my liking! But the pizza was quite nice, bit heavy maybe because I’m not used to eating a whole pizza and I couldn’t finish it either but I’d order the same one if I went again!

Quite tomato-y too which I wasn’t a fan of, think I would’ve preferred a bbq sauce but hey-ho can’t win them all can you!

Image

Our missed dough-balls for starter that they forgot so they gave it to us on the house which was nice and tbh when they came I was glad we didn’t have to pay for them!

Image

Erm not very doughball shaped and thought the butter might have had a bit more flavour to it but no it’s literally a slab of butter!

My friends salad – now as I don’t eat salads I’m not sure what was in this and I didn’t try it either – I’d like to say it looked nice, but I’d be lying…

Image

Now for desert I quite fancied the Vanilla ice cream with toffee sundae and my friend fancied the banoffee one and the nice waiter said he’d do one for us that mixed them both together rather than us having large ones each and when it came I was glad we’d shared one as they really are quite large!

Image

Yum!

Image

I enjoyed the desert, pizza was alright I guess, nothing spectacular and starter i’d give a miss! overall ….meh!

Trio (Arc Inspirations) – Headingley, Leeds

Got back from my weekend in London and my sister wanted to go eat, so we decided to go to Trio‘s which is in the Headingley area of Leeds and have to admit the main reason we went was because my sister works for one their sister restaurant in Harrogate so we get 50% off!

I’ve yet to go to her restaurant and this was the first time either of us have been to Trio’s and comparing it to where she works the menu is completely different. It seems that each restaurant the Arc Inspirations group have, have got there own look, menu and style.

Now she told me at hers’ they have a carbonara on the menu but this one didn’t have which upsetting but luckily they said they’d do one for me anyway which was very kind of them! Only problem was that it came mixed in with garnish – which I specifically said I didn’t want!

The actual place is quite nicely decorated definitely got a more day-time feel to it then a night restaurant and I also felt a bit like I was at an airport restaurant with the large glass windows and chairs they had! Also it’s quite a large place with at least 3 different floors so I’m guessing it does get busy in there.

Menu – clipboard style

Image

So I already knew I’d be getting the Carbonara, but felt like having a starter so decided to get the calamari!

It wasn’t the best calamari I’ve had and they were quite large pieces with the batter being way too wet and soft and pretty much falling off the calamari before I could put my fork in it! The lemon mayo it came with wasn’t great either as it was a bit sour but that’s probably cos I’m not a big fan of lemons!

Image

Now it took a while for the mains to come after the starter especially as my sister didn’t have any starters so she has to wait for me to finish mine before she could get her salad! and was disappointed when my pasta came as garnish EVERYWHERE and not just on top but mixed in so basically I couldn’t pick it out! So they had to do me a new one!

Image

After all the wait and them changing my order I was really hoping it’d be nice but it really was quite the opposite! It was far too salty maybe from the bacon, but way too salty for my liking! You couldn’t even taste the cream and I couldn’t enjoy it because of that! I didn’t manage to even finish half as there were a lot of black peppers too! Such a shame as I always like all my carbonaras! I’ll stick by my theory that if my order comes with garnish/veg mixed in and it has to be changed, it puts me off!

One plus though were the side portion of house fries we got!

Image

Now I won’t go back to Trio’s unless I was forced too but I wouldn’t mind going to other Arc Inspirations restaurants/bars as they’re all different!

Worth a look anyway…http://www.arcinspirations.com/

Busaba Eathai

Over the weekend met up with my bf in London and we went to a thai restaurant Busaba Eathai in Old Street. Now usually I don’t eat thai dishes as they’re usually quite spicy but I went a few years ago for my friends birthday and managed to get a plain noodle dish with some chicken in it and it was so tasty (even though it was plain!)

So as it was a few years ago I couldn’t remember what it was called especially as the name was so complicated but then on the tube saw them advertise it as I was down the escalators and I had to go again to see if it was as good as I remembered!

Image

Now this is what I originally ate

Image

I know it looks completely plain! But it was so nice and just what I wanted! Now I don’t remember the name of the dish or what I even ordered on it but I re-looked at the menu and saw something that sounded like it and I thought mmm that must be the one, I mean out of all the dishes there I must’ve picked that one!

So was starving all day and decided I couldn’t wait until dinner to eat noodles so we went to Bella Italia just off Oxford St. which I have to say probably has the worst service out of all the bella’s I’ve been too! Now I won’t go into it in too much detail as I don’t want to bash my favourite italian, but they seemed either short-staffed, too busy (even though the restaurant was only small) or poorly trained/managed. So I have to say eating about 2 hours before going to dinner was probably a mistake!

By the time we got to Busaba I thought I was hungry but turns out I was stuffed! The decor inside is quite cool lots of candles, dim lighting and large square tables that you sit on with our customers! I find sharing tables with other customers a little bit odd as there’s not much privacy and since you sit on a bench,Ii’m sat next to someone I don’t know plus I have to look at and smell all their food! I suppose it let’s you see what other dishes are on the main but it’s all a bit too cafeteria style for me, I much prefer private tables!

Image

Anyway I ordered the Pad Gai which is Sen Yai noodles (I have no idea what they were but when it came it looked a bit like Hor Fun noodles!), chicken, egg and oak leaf except due my fear of vegetables I asked for no leaves!!

Image

Also when it came I realised I probably did order the wrong one but that wasn’t a bad thing as I really enjoyed this dish too, it’s just a shame I was too full to finish it properly!

My boyfriends dinner.. unfortunately I wasn’t paying any attention to what he ordered so this is anyone’s guess!

Image

So moral of the story even though I ordered the wrong thing I still enjoyed what my ‘wrong’ order! Maybe I should try new dishes more often – having said that this is only my 3rd or 4th time I’ve ever had Thai food! And it’s not too pricey too! BONUS!

Highly recommend going here, not only was our waiter was very friendly but there was a lovely gentlemen who opened the doors for everyone and gave us a warm welcome! How lovely!

Red Chilli Leeds

Tonight just went to Red Chilli with my colleague for dinner as we both love it there! Now you may have guessed from the name that they specialise in spicy Chinese food and obviously I don’t eat spicy food (I don’t really like anything with too much flavour!) So it’s taken me quite a few trips there to decide what I do actually like eating there!

In my opinion the best dish they have is the half Beijing Duck (with the pancakes!) now don’t do what I did one time and just order a quarter duck because that’s a completely different type of duck! The Beijing duck is really crispy, soft and just amazing! (bit oily but still yum!) and the coolest thing is that there’s a special duck chef who comes out and slices the duck for you! Now the ducks only available after 6pm and not on Saturdays’ but it’s definitely worth ordering!

Here he is, slicing away…

Image

I also really enjoy the noodle dish with pork and green beans but without the green beans! There not spicy and quite pork flavoured if that makes sense? But still yummy, I think it’s because I enjoy that type of noodle!

Here it is with..

Image

and without the green beans – I have to admit if you order it without the green beans it does taste slightly different, a bit more watery I think but since I’m never going to eat those green beans I might as well just save them the trouble of cooking them!

Image

My next favourite dish in fact I think I prefer this one over the noodles but not over the duck is the salt and pepper/salt and garlic (they do both types) of soft shell baby crab!

I love my seafood like lobsters, crab, squid – I haven’t tried the more slimy stuff like oysters or mussels as they look a bit too icky! so anyway I really love the crab they’ve got as it’s a crispy batter with salt seasoning on and yeah I don’t eat the peppers but it’s so delicious!

Image

Image

There portions can be quite large so you’ve got to go on an empty stomach – If I know I’m going I will try not to eat all day as I get stuffed quite quickly there!

I do really like going to Red Chilli for the food – atmosphere wise when it’s busy it’s good but as it’s in a basement it’s a bit too dark for my liking (dim lights with green lights glowing!) and you can tell they’ve spent a lot of money on decorating the place out which is nice! Only thing I dislike is that there have been a few occasions where there’s just been loads of flys! Now if I’m sat outside I might expect the odd fly to come buzzing by but in a basement? How did it even get down there!!

Luckily no flys tonight!

Now my sister enjoys that sizzling fillet steak which smells really really good but I don’t like steaks much so have never tried it!

Olympic Torch Relay 2012 Wetherby

OK so it’s nothing to do with shopping, me eating or shoes but a once in a lifetime event near my house, you just can’t pass these things up!

I’ll admit I don’t watch or follow the Olympics religiously like I do with euro or world cup football but still when will I ever see the Olympic torch this close to my face!!

I was surprised at first it came through Wetherby as it’s such a small town and not much happens here -everyone’s nice and polite and that’s about it, but one of the lads that got chosen to carry the torch is actually from Wetherby so got to go and support one of your own!

We went got there early and stood on the bridge to watch it as we thought that’d be the best spot and good job we did get there early cos it packed quickly, it was nice to see so many people out – I didn’t even know there were that many people in Wetherby! Also it’s a really nice day and with my back to the sun for the first hour I felt like I was frying but then the weather started to get a bit dull but luckily it didn’t rain!

First bit of excitement was when we saw a coca-cola bus drive by (yes I’m that sad that I get excited by a decorated bus!)

Image

Lovely skies with the bunting still up from the jubilee on the bridge – ah nice day to out!

Image

I decided as well to be truely british I need a flag!! I had my bunting at home but you can’t really bring that to wave! so to my surprise there were people actually hawking flags and other union jack souvenirs! I really wonder if they follow the torch around the country and make a killing from the people with no flags i.e. me

Image

Image

Nice view from the bridge of the river (Aires?? I think it is- I can’t even remember!)

Image

The crowds are starting to really gather! Not sure why everyone gathers near the mini roundabout and small streets as the you get a much better view from the bridge!

Image

Image

Image

Woah the coca-cola bus is back!

Image

It’s actually quite funny there were loads of random people, bus drivers and policemen on motorbikes just waving to the crowds! We all love a good wave! Best of the lot though had to be the balloon seller who ran up the bridge carrying all his balloons and waving in true Olympic torch style!

Image

So it begins!! The torch is coming……

Image

Image

Olympic bus!! Image

Image

Tbh I’m not really sure what this bus was about or what they were saying, I kind of felt like I was watching some carnival!

Image

Although the back was like yacht – what this has to do with the Olympics is anyones guess!Image

Another coke float! – giving out free coke – managed to get a mini coke and coke zero! STEAL!Image

Ahhh it’s coming!!

Image

WOAH! GO GEORGE!

Image

aww 13 year old George Stocker, something he’ll remember for the rest of his life! What a huge honour it must’ve been for him and bless him he looked a bit nervous too but I’m sure Wetherby’s proud of him!

Pretty close to the torch!!Image

There he goes!

Image

More waving!

Image

Followed by cyclists

Image

There were 4 other runners in Wetherby, but glad we got to see George as he was the one i’d actually heard about (read something about him when I was queuing in Lloyds TSB!)

Here’s his story

http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/torchbearers=george-stocker-6835/index.html

Well it may have been quick but well worth the wait I’d say! (When’s it ever going to come to Wetherby again?!)

The aftermath

Blackhouse Leeds

A while ago my sister told me about Blackhouse as she’d had a friend who told her how great the sunday roasts were there and we were looking for a decent place to get a proper roast! When I wast at uni in Kent me and my friends used to always go to the Victoria hotel for the carvery and it was great there! Proper carvery where you get to chose your meat and eat as much as you like but in Leeds there isn’t really a place like that – well if there is we’ve have yet to discover it!

So we decided to give Blackhouse a try and there roast menu is for 2 people with either beef, chicken or pork?? I think! But me and my sister like beef which just happens to be the most pricey one (£36!) but at least it comes with all the trimmings – yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, veg – but I have no interest in those! and gravy!! yum!

Now i’m a person who loves my gravy, you can never have too much and I generally like my roasts swimming in it and I have to admit their gravy portions are teenie! You can order more and it’s usually free as we only got charged once for it, but if there busy you might be waiting a while for it!

Ages ago the restaurant used to be est est est (some italian that wasn’t all that) but then they charged over whilst I was at uni so I hadn’t been inside for a while and the decor is quite nice actually. There’s a lot of blacks (they are called BLACKhouse after all!) and wooden style furniture so it’s got quite a modern look to it and every now and then if you’re lucky enough the piano man will be there and sing live which is nice to listen to while you eat!

Personally I think it is a bit pricey I mean £36 might not be too bad when there’s 2 of you but when I went yesterday and my sister ordered a single portion it was £18 (yeah half the normal price but still!) so £18 for a single portion is EXPENSIVE! The carvery at uni was £8 and that was all you can eat!!!

Anyway they bring out the entire roast on a wooden board which is quite cool and I guess you pick between the two of you what you want to eat, but the problem with this is that you can only fit so much on your plate so whatever is for round 2 of eating is probably cold by the time you get round to eating it!

It is quite tasty but it’s nothing spectacular – I wouldn’t call it the best roast dinner i’ve ever had! Image

This is with the beef medium-rare.

When I got it a second time I got it well-done and that was just too tough to eat! Actually I would’ve really liked lamb with it but they did offer that and I don’t really like eating chicken with a roast as I always eat chicken in other dishes!

The yorkshire puddings are a good size but sometimes you can end up with burnt ones plus like I said it gets too cold too easily! They should put on a warming tray rather than just a stand!Image

Me and my sister went to again yesterday and I just wasn’t up for the roast dinner so I decided I’d see what else they had on the menu (I knew they didn’t have carbonaras and I wasn’t going to risk onions in a burger!) so I decided to go for some garlic rub bread and some fried calamari from the starters!

Now I got the garlic bread once before when I went with my bf and it came in small bread pieces with garlic butter and sea salt on and it was very tasty so I was a bit surprised when I got it a second time and it was like large pieces of fried ciabatta bread with a clove of garlic on the side and a little tub of olive oil (i’m guessing that’s what it was!)

Hmm confusion! What am I to do here – make it myself?? but then my sister said I was meant to rub the clove in the bread and eat it like that which was different! Now I don’t cook so I don’t really know if you’re meant to peel the outer bit of the garlic off and is that part of it?? I didn’t know but it ended up pretty messy and way too garlicky as well! But I still ate it and it was OK, I only left bits of the 2nd bread because it was burnt.

My calamari was nice the batter outside was a bit too soft though and it kept crumbling but yeah it was all good so I enjoyed that part of my meal!

Image

Got an ice cream for desert – vanilla = nice!, pistachio (which i’ve never had before) = made me feel ill

Image

So I won’t be getting the pistachio ice cream again! urgh when I got home I had to eat some Haagen Daz Cookies’n’ Cream to counter the taste that had been left in my mouth!
