My Photography Pictures

So for my 24th birthday, my amazing boyfriend bought a nice big shiny CANON 1100D CAMERA! I’ve always wanted a ‘big camera’ as I call them and after going on a photography course, I’ve now tried to improve my photography skills…

My main subjects are essentially things around my house and my little brother!

Still a working progress though!

The Making Of Harry Potter – WB Studio Harry Potter Tour

Last Christmas my boyfriend got me tickets to go to the new Harry Potter tour as I love Harry Potter, but as it’s near London and I live in Leeds, it was a bit tricky trying to find a good time to go so I decided in the end to go for my birthday!

I ended up booking the actual date about 2 months in advance and was glad I didn’t leave it any later as dates and times book up quickly!

Image

So we made our way to outer London where the tour was and read that there’s a shuttle bus that takes you but it’s only once every half an hour!! As we were running a bit late there was no way we had time to wait for the bus so we ended up getting a taxi! It’s about 15 mins from the nearest train station so you definitely want to get there early in order to not miss your time slot!

Image

It was pretty packed inside – alot busier than I though! But as soon as you arrive outside everything is Harry Potter!!

Image

The gift shop is to the right when you walk in and although I was super tempted to go inside I thought I should wait until the end as I didn’t want to be carrying things around with me! The queue is quite long and we had to wait at least 20 minutes to get in…you get to see the cupboard under the stairs though while you wait…

Image

Now when you go in the outer holding room as I called it, you get to see a mini video then you go through to the cinema room bit where there’s a massive screen and they show you a little film. Unfortunately me and my bf were a bit slow at getting seats and had to sit apart  from each other – so be quick at getting seats, people are a bit dog eat dog there!

Once the little film is over the screen actually lifts up to reveal the doors to the Great Hall! Exciting!!

Image

Image

One thing that annoyed me was that the tour guide, who only goes with you into the Great Hall kept getting in the way of all my photos! I would’ve liked pictures of the giant door without her standing in the way! Oh well..

The doors open and you get to see the Great Hall which is actually big, but a lot smaller than you see it in the films, but still there’s a lot of detail everywhere!

Image

There’s also mannequins with the 4 houses and their uniform..Image

Ravenclaw

Image

Slytherin

Image

Hufflepuff

Image

Gryffindor – plus Neville’s famous cardigan!

Image

At the top table there’s all the teachers costumes too..

Image

Image

After the Great Hall you walk through to the main bit and see all the props and this is where there’s so much to see!

Starting with the ice castle …

Image

Sadly you couldn’t touch anything, but it still looked cool..

Image

Image

Oh I love the beauxbatons uniform! I would’ve loved to wear that to school everyday!

More costumes from the films – I love Luna’s tinsel dress!!

Image

Image

Some of Umbridge’s school rules – there’s a whole wall full of them!

The Gryffindor boys bedroom ..

Image

Image

It was a bit hard to get a full shot of the whole boys bedroom as it quite wide but still exciting to see each of their beds (you can even see the west ham scarf on Dean Thomas’s bedside table!)

The Gryffindor common room..I personally would’ve loved to see the Slytherin common room too. but I guess as it only features in the one film, it probably wasn’t a fixed set..

Image

Image

So much detail in the whole room – apparently that portrait in the background of the witch with the cat is a young Professor Mcgonagall!

Image

At the top you can see the christmas jumpers Mrs Weasley knitted for Harry and Ron in the first film!

Dumbledore’s office..

After all this it goes to the outdoor set and this is where there’s more interactive stuff to see!..

The knight bus..

Image

me and my bf got to ride in Hagrid’s bike (I got the side car!)

Image

Also here there’s a little shack that sells butterbeer! I’d definitely recommend atleast giving one a try even though they are a bit expensive! It tastes quite odd, in my head I’d imagined they tasted like melted Werther’s originals, but they taste quite butterscotchy at first but after a few sips it does lose it’s flavour and it just tastes like fizzy water! I’m thinking the white frothy bit on top is actually what gives it the sweet flavour..

Image

Too many people standing in the way of No.4 Privet Drive to get a good picture..

The lights go down every few minutes and the lights inside the castle go on…

It then goes through to a wand room where each box is labelled with a different persons name..

Image

then the ultimate GIFT SHOP..

Image

Image

Chocolate frogs!! (yes they were a bit expensive – everything in the gift shop was, but it’s all part of the experience!)

Image

I loved the Slytherin stuff, the one thing I was definitely going to buy was a Slytherin scarf, only problem was I couldn’t decide which one..

Image

In the end I got the one with the snake on that said Slytherin as I thought that was the original one, but now I kinda wish I’d gotten the other one as that one is more practical! Oh well..Image

Image

All in all I loved the tour! There was so much to see and so much I wanted to buy too! You definitely need a good 3 hours to have a good look at everything.. I mean if your only going to go once you don’t want to rush your visit!

I took over 500 pictures and these ones on here are just a few of my best favourite pictures so don’t forget your camera! I’d love to go back again as theres probably some things I missed that I’d like to see again!

Here’s the things I bought from the gift shop..

The scarf I bought..

Image

Image

Bertie Bott’s every flavour beans.. there are some proper nasty flavours..

Just some of the flavours..

Rabito Iphone Case

I was browsing on http://www.spoiledbrat.co.uk/ and saw the cutest iphone case! It’s by Rabito and the jist is that the case is in the shape of a rabbit! It’s got long ears and a big fluffy tail on the back of it..so cute!

Image

The best thing about the tail is that it’s actually got several uses..

1. It’s a perfect to stand the phone up

2. Earphones can be wrapped around it

3. It can be used as a screen wipe

4. It’s detachable and adjustable (it’s got a sucky pad at the back)

I absolutely LOVE it..

Image

I think it’s made out of silicon so it’s soft too but will still protect my phone! Plus the ears are a little bit bendy which I like playing with…

Image

I chose the baby pink colour but I was debating between this and fuchsia colour which I also really liked, but I think the baby pink is much cuter!

There are loads available on e-bay but I’m not sure if they’re real as they’re so cheap on there so I would go with a genuine supplier for the real deal! Yeah it’s £30 which is a bit pricey, but this case will definitely last throughout my iphone’s life.

Olympic Torch Relay 2012 Wetherby

OK so it’s nothing to do with shopping, me eating or shoes but a once in a lifetime event near my house, you just can’t pass these things up!

I’ll admit I don’t watch or follow the Olympics religiously like I do with euro or world cup football but still when will I ever see the Olympic torch this close to my face!!

I was surprised at first it came through Wetherby as it’s such a small town and not much happens here -everyone’s nice and polite and that’s about it, but one of the lads that got chosen to carry the torch is actually from Wetherby so got to go and support one of your own!

We went got there early and stood on the bridge to watch it as we thought that’d be the best spot and good job we did get there early cos it packed quickly, it was nice to see so many people out – I didn’t even know there were that many people in Wetherby! Also it’s a really nice day and with my back to the sun for the first hour I felt like I was frying but then the weather started to get a bit dull but luckily it didn’t rain!

First bit of excitement was when we saw a coca-cola bus drive by (yes I’m that sad that I get excited by a decorated bus!)

Image

Lovely skies with the bunting still up from the jubilee on the bridge – ah nice day to out!

Image

I decided as well to be truely british I need a flag!! I had my bunting at home but you can’t really bring that to wave! so to my surprise there were people actually hawking flags and other union jack souvenirs! I really wonder if they follow the torch around the country and make a killing from the people with no flags i.e. me

Image

Image

Nice view from the bridge of the river (Aires?? I think it is- I can’t even remember!)

Image

The crowds are starting to really gather! Not sure why everyone gathers near the mini roundabout and small streets as the you get a much better view from the bridge!

Image

Image

Image

Woah the coca-cola bus is back!

Image

It’s actually quite funny there were loads of random people, bus drivers and policemen on motorbikes just waving to the crowds! We all love a good wave! Best of the lot though had to be the balloon seller who ran up the bridge carrying all his balloons and waving in true Olympic torch style!

Image

So it begins!! The torch is coming……

Image

Image

Olympic bus!! Image

Image

Tbh I’m not really sure what this bus was about or what they were saying, I kind of felt like I was watching some carnival!

Image

Although the back was like yacht – what this has to do with the Olympics is anyones guess!Image

Another coke float! – giving out free coke – managed to get a mini coke and coke zero! STEAL!Image

One of the mascots taking a seat

Image

The other mascot (insert name here) hanging out of a window

Image

Ahhh it’s coming!!

Image

WOAH! GO GEORGE!

Image

aww 13 year old George Stocker, something he’ll remember for the rest of his life! What a huge honour it must’ve been for him and bless him he looked a bit nervous too but I’m sure Wetherby’s proud of him!

Pretty close to the torch!!Image

There he goes!

Image

More waving!

Image

Followed by cyclists

Image

There were 4 other runners in Wetherby, but glad we got to see George as he was the one i’d actually heard about (read something about him when I was queuing in Lloyds TSB!)

Here’s his story

http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/torchbearers=george-stocker-6835/index.html

Well it may have been quick but well worth the wait I’d say! (When’s it ever going to come to Wetherby again?!)

The aftermath
